CIOtech of Tampa created RansomRescue in an effort to devote more resources and provide professional solutions to the ongoing and devastating problems associated with the threat of RansomWare.

What is RansomWare?

In short, RansomWare a type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer, network or device until a sum of money is paid.

There are, generally, two types of RansomWare:

Encrypting RansomWare

This incorporates progressive encrypting algorithms which block system files. This malware has the ability to encrypt all types of files including photos, files, videos, audio and others. The parties responsible for the malware then commonly display a message on your device demanding a payment. If payment is made, the affected party may or may not receive the decryption key to restore the system back to normal. Often the initial message will give a time limit of, for example, a week to make payment. The amount may be raised then and another payment date provided. If payment is still not made then all files are rendered useless and no further decryption keys will be offered.

Locker RansomWare

Locker malware differs from Encrypting RansomWare in that it locks the individual out of the operating system completely. This makes it impossible to simply gain access to the computer, for example, it's desktop, applications and so forth. No files are encrypted yet a ransom payment is still required in order to unlock the system and allow access.
